New dietary recommendations for sports nutrition
The American College of Sports Medicine in association with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Dietitians of Canada have published an update of the dietary recommendations for athletes. In their joint position statement, dietary recommendations are given for the appropriate amount and timing of intake for carbohydrate, protein, fluid, vitamins and minerals.
European study into improvement of the diet of elderly people
With an ever growing older European population it is relevant to know which nutritional interventions are effective for people over 65. A study conducted by Wageningen University & Research shows that elderly people are very well able to improve their eating habits. Supervision by a dietitian was an essential part of the program. The annual World Dairy Summit was organised from 16 - 19 October 2016 in Rotterdam. Over 1000 dairy experts from all over the world gathered to discuss social themes related to dairy. This year's theme was: 'Dare to Dairy'.
